REACH

Safe handling and use of chemicals is today on the agenda for all chemicals producers. Being in the field of water treatment we at Feralco naturally take this agenda very seriously. We care about everything around our products, from raw materials throughout the production process to the final products and their end-use.
But our commitment doesn’t end there. We are voluntarily implementing the High Production Volume (HPV) programme for our products. It means that we have conducted extensive studies for the establishment of toxicological and ecotoxicological data about our products. Ecotox and toxicity test have shown that our products, even at very high concentrations, are not giving any negative effects on the environment or human beings.
At the time when the REACH legislation requires the registration of chemicals to control chemical hazards, Feralco is particularly well prepared and poised to register its products.
The REACH legislation
REACH is a new law enacted by the European Community that involves the registration of any current substance to the European Chemicals Agency established for this purpose.
According to REACH, any producer or importer of chemicals must assume full responsibility for its products throughout the supply chain. This does not only ensure the harmlessness of the product as such, but also the harmlessness of the product through all its uses. A chemical risk assessment must be carried out and formalised in the form of a report (CSR: Chemical Safety Report) for each use of our products.
We hope to cover all possible situations. We will succeed through the exchanges that we are able to have with our customers.
