Phosphorus Removal

Phosphorus Removal

Phosphorus (P) is commonly found in municipal and agricultural waste and wastewater originating from the digestion of phosphorus containing food sources. Soluble reactive phosphorus, typically in the form of orthophosphate (PO43+) can be a nutrient for aquatic plants, such as algae which can be a health risk to aquatic  life or an aesthetic nuisance to those living near or using the waterways. In the case of blue-green algae, toxic by-products can be formed which create health issues if a lake or reservoir is used as a source of drinking water.

Maximum phosphate residuals in the water are often as low as 1 ppm.

Bifloc is an aluminium-rich iron aluminium sulphate and  is used to reduce phosphate levels and, at the same time, improve poor settlement caused by filamentous bacteria or plant overload.

Ferral 1251 is an iron-rich iron aluminium sulphate with high efficiency phosphate removal.
