REACH

Safe handling and use of chemicals is today on the agenda for all chemical producers. Being in the field of water treatment we at Feralco naturally take this agenda very seriously. We care about everything around our products, from raw materials throughout the production process to the final products and their end-use.
But our responsibility doesn’t end there. As a member of INCOPA, Inorganic Coagulants Producers Association, we are, together with all members of the association, voluntarily implementing the High Production Volume (HPV) programme for our products. It means that profound studies regarding toxicity and consequences for use have been conducted.
Ecotox and toxicity test have shown that our products, even at very high concentrations, are not giving any negative effects on the environment or human beings. We are thus very well prepared and ready to register all our products according to the new REACH legislation.

What is REACH?
REACH is an acronym for Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals. The REACH proposal requires industry to register all existing and future new substances with a new European Chemicals Agency within the EU.
The new law means that producers and/or importers of substances must take full responsibility for their products in the total supply chain.
REACH doesn’t only mean that products must be tested to be safe, but also that we have to make a risk assessment in the form of a Chemical Safety Report (CSR) for every application for our products. This will be handled in good contact with our customers in order to cover all possible situations.
